SMSF compliance statements

Pearson Bros Homes sells new, completed homes to owner-occupiers, first-home buyers, downsizers and investors. A self-managed super fund can still buy a completed Pearson Bros home outright with cash under a single contract of sale.

New SMSF residential borrowing is being banned. Legislation banning self-managed super funds from entering new Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements (LRBAs) to acquire residential property received Royal Assent on 26 June 2026 and commences on 10 August 2026. Existing LRBAs, and any contract of sale exchanged before 10 August 2026, are grandfathered. From that date, new residential LRBAs are no longer available; cash purchases by an SMSF remain permitted. This is general information only and is not advice.

References on this website to the Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangement (LRBA) provisions of the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (Cth), to Self-Managed Superannuation Funds Ruling SMSFR 2012/1, and to other Australian Taxation Office or regulatory positions, are general explanations only.

Whether any particular Pearson Bros Homes property purchase satisfies the applicable rules, including the single-acquirable-asset test, or any other compliance test for your SMSF depends on your fund's structure, deed, current investment strategy, the method of purchase, and the specific structure of the transaction. We strongly recommend your accountant, SMSF auditor, or licensed SMSF adviser review every proposed purchase against your specific position.
